Why We Trade on Tickmill

We’ve evaluated more than a dozen brokers for our automated systems. Tickmill is the one that survived three filters at the same time: execution that does not slip during high-volatility prints (FOMC, NFP, CPI), spreads that do not eat the edge of a system targeting 20-pip swings, and a regulatory stack with real recourse if anything goes wrong. The combination is rare. Most brokers cheat on one or two of those filters to win on the third.

1. Execution and Cost Profile

The Raw account is built for algo and high-frequency strategies. EUR/USD averages 0.10 pips at the spread with $3 commission per side, which lands the all-in cost at roughly 0.70 pips per round-turn - competitive with any institutional venue. Our EURUSD swing system, which targets 20-50 pip moves, can absorb this cost without breaking the expectancy. For longer-term Classic-account traders, spreads sit around 1.70 pips with zero commission - better for buy-and-hold positioning than for algo trading.

2. Regulation You Can Actually Use

Tickmill operates four regulated entities, two of which sit in Tier-1 jurisdictions (UK FCA and Cyprus CySEC). Client funds are segregated at Tier-1 banks. UK clients are covered by the FSCS compensation scheme up to £85,000 per individual. European clients fall under the ICF (Investor Compensation Fund). This matters because it is the difference between a complaint going through a real regulator and a complaint going nowhere. Higher-leverage products run through the Seychelles (FSA) entity with weaker protection - we use the FSCA/FSA entities only for leverage-sensitive strategies, not for primary capital.

3. Platform Stack That Doesn’t Force a Compromise

Tickmill supports MT4, MT5, TradingView, and the proprietary Tickmill Trader mobile app - all linked to the same account. The Advanced Trading Toolkit adds 22+ indicators and risk-management tools as a free addon. cTrader is not supported, which is the one notable gap if you prefer the cTrader interface. For algo traders, VPS hosting is available at a discount and API connectivity is straightforward.

Account Types: Classic vs Raw

Feature Classic Raw (formerly Pro)
Minimum Deposit $100 $100
EUR/USD Average Spread ~1.70 pips ~0.10 pips
Commission per Side $0 (commission-free) $3 ($6 round-turn / std lot)
All-In Cost (EUR/USD round-turn) ~1.70 pips ~0.70 pips
Best For Manual / position / swing (low-frequency) Algo / scalp / high-frequency
Execution Market Market (ECN-style depth)
Islamic Swap-Free Option Available Available

Our pick: Raw account if you trade more than 5 round-turn lots per month or run any automation. Classic if you place fewer than 5 manual swing trades per month and prefer not to think about commissions on the ticket. The crossover point is right around there - below it, the spread-only model is simpler; above it, the Raw model saves you real money.

How We Use Tickmill at fxcryptobots

Our live EURUSD swing system - verified through FX Blue - runs on a Tickmill Raw account. The strategy targets 20-50 pip swings, so the spread economics matter more than any other broker choice. Tickmill’s 0.10 pip average on EUR/USD plus $3/side commission lets us run this strategy with a 1.6:1 reward-to-cost ratio on the average trade - the same strategy on a 1.0 pip spread broker would erode roughly 30% of the expected edge.

We also use Tickmill for manual XAU/USD positioning around major data releases. The data prints we track via Data Releases (CPI, NFP, FOMC, PPI) typically see 0.5-2 pip spread widening on most brokers in the 5 seconds before and after the print. Tickmill stays tight enough to actually execute a tactical position size during these windows.

Watch our system run live: The EURUSD Swing System page hosts the full strategy explainer, FX Blue tracking link, and a free demo account where you can monitor the system in real time using investor-password access.

Frequently Asked

Is Tickmill safe?

Tickmill is regulated by the FCA (UK), CySEC (EU), FSCA (South Africa), and FSA (Seychelles). UK clients have FSCS protection up to £85,000. Client funds are segregated at Tier-1 banks. By industry standards, the safety profile is at the top end - particularly under the FCA and CySEC entities.

Classic or Raw - which should I open?

Open Raw if you plan to trade more than ~5 round-turn standard lots per month or run any automation. Open Classic if you place fewer manual swing trades and prefer commission-free simplicity. You can always switch later or run multiple accounts.

Which leverage entity should I sign up under?

If you are based in the UK or EU and want investor compensation protection, sign up via the FCA or CySEC entity (1:30 retail leverage). If you need higher leverage for short-duration trading and accept thinner compensation cover, the FSCA or FSA entity offers up to 1:1000.

How long do withdrawals take?

Processed within 1 working day on Tickmill’s side. Total time depends on the destination - cards typically arrive within 1-3 business days, bank wires 2-5 business days, crypto and e-wallets often same-day.

Does Tickmill offer copy trading?

Tickmill integrates with third-party copy-trading platforms via API. There is no native copy-trading marketplace, which is intentional - the broker focuses on direct execution rather than running its own social trading product.
